CarrierPoint Adds Powerful Web-Based Data Warehouse
Functionality to Dynamic Shipping MarketplaceSM
Allows Shippers and Carriers to Track and Analyze
Information Over the Internet
ATLANTA, GA, November 28, 2000 /CarrierPoint/
CarrierPoint, Inc., an e-logistics company that provides
Web-based collaborative supply-chain management tools
and transportation marketplaces to the $154 billion
less-than-truckload and full- truckload freight market,
announced today the first release of DataDepotSM
a Web-based data warehouse tool.
DataDepot provides online data mining and reporting
to help shippers and carriers better analyze their business.
DataDepot allows users to gain access to detailed information
about their company, industry-wide benchmarking data
and standardized management reports using a standard
Web browser.
"DataDepot is a real-time data warehouse application
delivering powerful logistics data analysis and decision
support data via the Web," said Cliff Isaacson, CarrierPoint
Chief Technology Officer. "Data warehouses have been
around for years in a client-server environment, but
only recently has the technology matured enough to deliver
this type of information securely over the Internet.
This technology gives management the information they
need to fine- tune their supply chains and realize hard-to-find
efficiencies."
DataDepot works in conjunction with CarrierPoint's
Dynamic Shipping MarketPlaceSM (DSMSM).
With its contract management and collaborative exchange
functionality, DSM provides the vehicle to collect the
information. DataDepot provides the platform to maintain
and analyze all the data and report on it in a secure,
meaningful way.
Numerous standard online reports are available with
the first release of DataDepot, including carrier utilization
by lane and weight, shipping cost by product, lane and
carrier, carrier ranking by weight shipped, ranked origins
and destinations by shipment and weight, daily transactions,
pricing analysis, shipper ranked by weight shipped,
shipper ranked by equipment and lane, and equipment
utilization by lane.
DataDepot consists of a database that contains customer-specific
historical data. The delivery mechanism is a SSL-encrypted
Web-based interface that permits customers to view standardized
and custom reports that run dynamically and display
only the information that is unique to their company,
business unit and operating area.
"DataDepot allows both shippers and carriers access
to customized information that was previously difficult
to extract," said Mr. Isaacson. "We are confident that
they will find DataDepot to be a highly-useful, easy-to-use
tool that will help improve their business operations."
