CarrierPoint Provides WebDispatch and Dynamic Shipping MarketPlacesm Solutions to Ticona, a Unit of Celanese AG
Leader in Technical Polymers Selects Leader in Logistics Software Solutions to Improve Shipping Efficiencies
ATLANTA, GA, April 24, 2001 /CarrierPoint/
CarrierPoint(SM), Inc., a leading provider of Web-based logistics software solutions to the $154 billion less-than-truckload and full-truckload freight market, has announced it is providing its WebDispatch and Dynamic Shipping Marketplacesm (DSMsm) applications to Ticona, the industry leading technical polymers business of Celanese AG.
The implementation of Ticona's core carrier management process was completed at all of its shipping facilities in 1999. The result was tighter relationships with fewer LTL and TL carriers, which increased the efficiency of shipment scheduling and coordination at both the corporate traffic department level and at the plant/warehouse operations level. One of Ticona's objectives for the year 2000 was to improve the efficiency of its shipment tendering process to Ticona's core carriers via the Internet. With a limited transportation staff, the effort required to operate the current scheduling process needed to be reduced by 50%. CarrierPoint came to Ticona with a solution.
"With CarrierPoint's applications, we are becoming true partners with our carriers. We are eliminating several telephone calls to carriers and managing the process more efficiently due to fewer man hours on the phone," said Stephen Wright, Ticona's logistics systems specialist. "In addition, CarrierPoint's applications allow us to capture more accurate data and are also more convenient for after-hours transactions since many dispatchers tend to close shop at 5:00 p.m."
"Ticona needed to centrally manage its shipment consolidation process, carrier selection and scheduling by using a shipment tendering process that would be cost effective and increasingly time efficient," said Wright. "Ticona saw an immediate improvement at the start of this program, and realized that its obstacles were eliminated with CarrierPoint's applications."
CarrierPoint's WebDispatch allows shippers and carriers to conduct their contract business directly without the use of labor-intensive and error-prone business processes, expensive EDI technology or the costly involvement of a third party. Dynamic Shipping MarketPlace allows shippers and carriers to offer shipments, communicate prices, make commitments and share information in a secure, real-time environment using either their own private marketplaces or CarrierPoint's public marketplace.
Ticona will be researching CarrierPoint's DockMasterSM application later this year. DockMaster is CarrierPoint's dock scheduling tool that allows shippers to effectively manage their docks and their carriers.
