CarrierPoint Secures Joint Marketing Agreement with
Randall Publishing
Atlanta-based Internet Trucking Marketplace
Ramps Up Marketing Efforts
ATLANTA, GA, April 5, 2000 /Transport News/
CarrierPoint, a business-to-business electronic commerce
company where shippers and carriers meet to fulfill
less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload shipments,
announced today a joint marketing alliance with Randall
Publishing Company's Trucking Media Group, a leader
in trade magazines and other media targeted to the trucking
industry. The two-year agreement will make CarrierPoint
the exclusive interactive freight-matching service and
logistics partner for eTrucker.net, Randall's complete
online trucking community.
The alliance with eTrucker.net will allow CarrierPoint
to promote its virtual marketplace, www.carrierpoint.com,
in select Randall Publishing publications, including
Overdrive, Trucking Co. and Truckers News and on the
Overdrive Radio Network and Motor Media billboards.
"This agreement with Randall Publishing will take CarrierPoint's
marketing initiatives to the next level," said Brian
Kinsey, president and chief executive officer of CarrierPoint.
"We believe eTrucker.net will emerge as the leading
portal in the trucking industry, thus providing the
exposure we need to establish CarrierPoint as the industry
pacesetter in Internet-based transportation logistics."
The core CarrierPoint offering is a Dynamic Shipping
MarketplaceSM (DSMSM) that allows
shippers and carriers to conduct business directly with
each another in a real-time, highly efficient environment.
CarrierPoint's offering will include a robust data warehouse
with real-time online data mining access as well as
a portal component. CarrierPoint offers significant
benefits to the shipper in terms of true marketplace
pricing and substantial process improvements, and to
the carrier in terms of the ability to expand their
operations, improve asset utilization, and reduce empty
miles.
As part of the agreement, eTrucker.net will provide
trucking industry news articles to CarrierPoint several
times a week to be posted on CarrierPoint's user-customized
"myCarrierPoint" section of its web site. The alliance
will also allow portal links between the CarrierPoint
and Randall Publishing web sites.
"Our partnership is an asset to both companies but
an even greater asset to the trucking industry on the
Internet," said Mike Reilly, COO of Randall Publishing.
"The drivers will get loads quicker with more precise
shipping instructions, prices and times while the companies
are getting loads to their destinations quicker with
paperwork and confusion becoming a thing of the past.
It is a great time to jump on board and watch the future
of our industry unfold."
